Jiayu Li

Jiayu Li is a pianist and musician from Shanghai.

He expresses emotions in a sensitive way, while also enjoying the exploration of a wide range of sounds—both those produced by instruments and those that are not.

He is often troubled by the word “genre.”

He graduated from the Jazz Piano program at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music, where he studied under Yuki Arimasa and Tomonao Hara, among others. He first emerged in Tokyo leading his own band. He has played his part as a pianist in bars in Shanghai and on a ship traveling around the world.

For him, feeling and experiencing different environments is essential.

In 2016, he and his friend, musician and guitarist Sanser, released a self-titled album under the band name A Season In Hell.

In 2024, he released Singing (to) Myself, an album he composed and produced himself.

From 2024 to 2025, he released a series of playful singles with musician and saxophonist Masaki Hanawa, including “My Split Second Sound,” “Song For…,” and “Carbonated Prime.”

He currently lives in Matsudo, Chiba, Japan.
